Edit your profile
Change your name, upload a profile picture and decide which emails Wishlist.de sends you — step by step.
Your profile is what other people see of you. Here’s how to shape it.
Opening your profile
- Tap your profile picture at the top right, or the circle with your initials
- Choose Profile from the menu
You’ll see three tabs: Profile, Security and Notifications.
Changing your name
Your name shows up:
- On your wishlists
- On reservations you make — it’s prefilled there, and you can overwrite it in the form
- In messages to other people
So organizers and the other guests can see it. If you signed up with Google, your full Google name is there to begin with, and you can change it whenever you like. A nickname or just a first name is perfectly fine.
How to change it
- Open your profile
- Stay on the Profile tab
- Edit the name field
- Save your changes
The name has to be between 2 and 100 characters.
Uploading a profile picture
A picture makes your profile feel like yours.
How to upload one
- Open your profile
- Tap the camera icon on your profile picture
- Pick an image from your device
- It uploads by itself
What the image needs

Removing a picture
Right now you can only replace a profile picture, not take it away entirely.
Your email address
Your email address sits on the Profile tab, under your name. You can’t change it there yourself — it’s the anchor of your account.
If you’d like to use a different one, drop us a line and we’ll change it for you. Everything else stays as it is. Details under changing your email address.
Please don’t delete your account to do this — your wishlists would go with it.
Choosing which emails you get
Wishlist.de can email you about what happens on your lists.
Email notifications
You get an email when:
- Someone reserves something on one of your wishlists
- There’s activity on your lists
Two things can stop that. If you switch the notifications off, nothing arrives at all. And on a list in surprise mode the message goes to your co-owner instead of to you — and if there is no co-owner, to nobody. That is the whole point of surprise mode.
How to change the setting
- Open your profile
- Go to the Notifications tab
- Switch email notifications on or off
- Save — a short confirmation tells you it worked
Next to it sits a second switch for Tips about your list, the occasional pointer about setting things up. It works on its own: you can turn those off and keep the reservation emails.
Our advice: leave the notifications on so you don’t miss a reservation. On a surprise list that isn’t enough by itself — there you need a co-owner to receive the mail.
Push notifications
Push notifications don’t exist yet. The switch is there, but it does nothing.
Your numbers
Your profile page also shows a few counts:

Common questions
Can other people see my profile picture?
Yes. It appears:
- On your wishlists
- In chat messages, on lists where chat is switched on
- On reservations you make
Can I change my email address myself?
Not yourself — but we do it for you. Send a short note to kontakt@wishlist.de with the new address. See changing your email address.
Do my changes take effect straight away?
Yes. A new name or picture is visible to everyone immediately.
