Change your password

Here’s how to change your password — or why you don’t need to if you signed in with Google or Apple.

If you signed up with an email address and password

Then you can change your password whenever you like.

How to change it

1. Open your profile: tap your picture, then Profile
2. Go to the Security tab
3. Fill in the three fields:
   • Current password — the one you have now
   • New password
   • Confirm — the new one again
4. Save

What a password has to have

Requirement	Detail
Length	At least 8 characters
Lowercase letter	At least one
Uppercase letter	At least one
Number	At least one
Not a known one	Passwords that have turned up in known data breaches are refused

If you signed in with Google or Apple

If you registered with Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, you don’t have a separate Wishlist.de password to begin with.

What that means

• You sign in through Google or Apple
• Your Google or Apple password protects your account
• Your profile has no password change for your account

Adding a password as well

You can also sign in with your email address and a password if you like:

1. Go to the sign-in page
2. Tap Forgot your password?
3. Enter your account’s email address as it appears in your profile (with Apple’s “Hide My Email”, that’s the forwarding address)
4. Follow the link in the email and set a password

After that you can sign in either way. You change that password later the same way.

How to tell

On the Security tab you’ll see that your account is connected to Google or Apple, and that changing a password isn’t available.

Changing your Google password

Do that at Google:

1. Go to myaccount.google.com
2. Open Security
3. Choose Password
4. Change it there

Changing your Apple password

Do that in the settings of your iPhone, iPad or Mac, or at account.apple.com.

Forgot your password?

With email and password

1. Go to the sign-in page
2. Tap Forgot your password?
3. Enter your email address
4. We send you an email with a link
5. Follow it and set a new password

With Google or Apple

There are two different passwords here:

• Forgot your Google or Apple password? Reset it with Google (accounts.google.com) or Apple (iforgot.apple.com).
• Want to set or reset a Wishlist.de password? On the sign-in page, tap Forgot your password? and enter the email address from your profile (with Apple’s “Hide My Email”, that’s the forwarding address). That gets you into your account even without the Google or Apple button.

Common questions

I can’t find the option to change my password

Then you probably signed in with Google or Apple. Check the Security tab — it will say which one your account is connected to.

Can I switch from Google or Apple to email and password?

Yes, as an extra option: set a password through Forgot your password? (see above). Signing in with Google or Apple keeps working. Signing up again with the same email address doesn’t create a second account.

How strong should my password be?

Use one you don’t use anywhere else. A password manager makes that painless.

Do I have to sign in again afterward?

No, you stay signed in.
