Add a wish by typing it in

Not every wish has a link. For promises, homemade gifts and things that simply aren’t sold online, you type the wish in yourself — and you can have AI draw a matching picture.

When to type it in

• Promises — “a weekend with Dad”, “breakfast in bed”
• Homemade gifts — a knitted scarf, a birthday cake
• Time instead of things — “a day entirely to myself”
• Local shops — the place round the corner with no website
• Personal wishes — “help me move”, “let’s cook together”
• Open-ended wishes — “a good book”, “something for the kitchen”

Adding one

1. Open your wishlist
2. Tap + Add
3. Choose Enter it yourself
4. The form opens without a URL field — you fill it in
5. Complete the other fields
6. Optional: generate an AI image
7. Save

Generating an image

The nice part of typing a wish in yourself: we can create a picture for it.

How it works

1. Give it a clear name
2. Add a description — the more detail, the better
3. Tap the button to generate an image
4. Wait a moment while it’s made
5. Look at the preview
6. Happy with it? Use it.
7. Not quite? Generate another one.

Getting better images

The more you describe, the better it gets:

Categories

We assign the category when the wish is created — there’s no free text field. You can change it later in the edit form, choosing from a fixed set of 60 badges in 14 groups (a creator page gets one more). These groups tend to fit wishes you typed in yourself:

In the app the category picker still shows German group and category names. Only the frame around it is translated so far, so the names above are a description, not what you will read on screen.

Show your guests what you’re really hoping for:

• Must-have — this one would make my year
• Nice to have — I’d be delighted
• Optional — lovely, but not important

Common questions

Can I add a link later?

Yes. If you find one after all, add it through Edit whenever you like.

How does the image generation work?

We use Gemini to build a picture from the name and the description. The more detail you give, the closer it lands.

Does generating an image cost anything?

No. It’s free and built into Wishlist.de.

Can I upload my own picture instead?

Yes. Instead of generating one, upload a photo — of your homemade gift, for instance.

Do guests see that an image was generated?

No. It looks like any other picture on the list. There’s no badge on it.

What if I don’t like the image?

Generate another one. You can do that as often as you need.
