Who can see your wishlist
Choose between private, link only and public — and decide exactly who gets to open your wishlist and see what you wished for.
The privacy setting decides who can open your wishlist. There are three levels, and you can move between them at any time.
The three levels
1. Only with the link (recommended)
The default, and the right answer for most occasions.
How this one works:
- Only people who have the share link can open your list
- Search engines cannot find it
- You decide who gets the link
Good for:
- Birthdays
- A farewell for a colleague
- Baby showers
- Most private occasions
2. Private — only me
Only you see the list, plus your co-owner if you have one.
Good for:
- A draft, before you are ready to share
- Notes to yourself
- Anything you want to sit on for a while
To share a private list, just switch the visibility back to link only.
3. Public — anyone can find it
Anyone can find the list.
Good for:
- Weddings, so that distant relatives can find it too
- Charity collections
- Open, public fundraising
Good to know — a public wishlist appears on the Discover page and search engines can find it.
Changing the visibility
- Open your wishlist
- Press Edit — the pencil icon
- Change Who can see the list?
- Save
The change takes effect straight away.

*With surprise mode on, the reservation status is hidden from you.
Common questions
Can I change the visibility later?
Yes, whenever you like. Go from private to link only the moment you are ready to share.
Is link only really safe?
Yes. As long as you only pass the link to people you trust, nobody else gets in. The link we generate for you is random and nobody can guess it. If you also pick a custom link, that one is of course guessable — both lead to the same list.
Can search engines find my list?
Only if it is public. On link only and private, search engines never see it.
What happens to links I already shared if I switch to private?
They stop working, and visitors get an error message. Switch back to link only and the same links work again.
