One link is all it takes: share your wishlist on WhatsApp, by email, on social media or as a QR code — no account needed for your guests.
Sharing your wishlist takes one link and one tap.
Copying the link
Every wishlist has its own address, something like:
wishlist.de/w/my-birthday
To find yours:
- Open your wishlist
- Tap Share at the top right
- Copy the link
Now you can paste it anywhere — a chat, an email, a social post.
Sharing on WhatsApp
The quickest route to your friends:
- Tap Share
- Choose WhatsApp
- The app opens with the link ready to send
Send it to your group chat — that way everyone can see what’s already been reserved.
Sharing by email
For the more formal occasions, weddings among them:
- Tap Share
- Choose email
- Your mail program opens with the link in it
The link preview
Paste your link into WhatsApp, Facebook or iMessage and a preview with a picture appears by itself. That picture is what people call an Open Graph image.
Where the preview comes from
Wishlist.de builds it from the banner of your list:
- The banner you chose or uploaded in the design sheet
- With your list’s title laid over it
- Sized the way messengers want it
So a link you share looks like something, instead of bare blue text.
Changing the preview
The preview is your banner. To change one, change the other:
- Open the design sheet on your list
- Upload your own image — or have one designed for you with AI
- Apply it, and the preview follows automatically
Heads up: some services remember the old preview for a while.
Making a QR code
Ideal for invitations, or when you’re all in the same room:
- Tap Share
- Scroll down to the QR code
- Pick one of the four styles
- Download it, or print it straight away
Your guests scan it with their phone camera.

Instagram and friends
Instagram shows no link preview. There the share button puts the bare link on your clipboard — you paste it into your bio or a story and add a picture yourself. WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook unfold the link into your banner on their own. We prepare the preview; whether an app shows it is the app’s decision, and mail programs vary wildly.

What your friends see
When someone opens your link, they get:
- The name of your wishlist
- The date of the occasion
- The wishes with their pictures, and the prices unless you hid them
- Which wishes are still available
- A way to reserve a gift
And in surprise mode?
With surprise mode on, you are the one who can’t see who reserved what. Your friends still see it among themselves — which is what stops two people buying the same gift.
Common questions
Can anyone with the link see my list?
Yes, anyone holding the link can open it, so share it only with the people who should have it.
Whether it can also be found depends on the privacy setting you chose. A link-only list, which is the default, is not listed anywhere and search engines do not index it. A list you set to public is a different thing: it appears on the Discover page and search engines can find it. A private list only you can open.
Can I change the link later?
Yes, you can pick a new custom link whenever you like. An earlier custom link then stops working; the automatically generated one stays valid.
Do my friends need an account?
No. They can see everything and reserve gifts without signing up.
