Swap the random address for something people can remember, like wishlist.de/w/alex-turns-30 — easy to say out loud and easy to print.
Every wishlist gets a random address. You can give yours a memorable one instead.
Random versus custom
The address we generate looks like wishlist.de/w/a7b3c9d2. A custom one looks like wishlist.de/w/alex-turns-30, or wishlist.de/w/wedding-anna-tim, or wishlist.de/w/baby-miller.
Easier to remember, nicer to say out loud, and it looks far better printed on an invitation.
Setting one up
While you create the list
- Open Custom wishlist link (optional)
- Type the address you want
- Watch for the green check that says it is free
- Create the list
Changing it later
- Open your wishlist
- Press Edit
- Open Custom wishlist link (optional)
- Type the new address
- Save

We lower-case whatever you type and drop anything we cannot use.
Checking whether it is free
We check while you type:
- Green check — yours to take
- Red cross — somebody already has it
- Spinner — still checking
If the address you wanted is gone, add something: alex-birthday taken? Try alex-30-birthday.
What happens to the old address
When you change the link:
- The new address works right away
- An earlier custom address stops working
- The random address we generated (
wishlist.de/w/a7b3c9d2) keeps working forever — your list answers to both
Tell your friends if you REPLACE a custom address you already shared. Setting one for the first time costs you nothing, because the old random address stays valid.
Common questions
Can I change the link later?
Yes, whenever you like. Just remember the previous custom address stops working.
What if the address I want is taken?
Add something of your own — a year, a city:
wedding-anna-tim-2026birthday-alex-berlin
Do I need a custom link at all?
No. The random address works just as well. A custom one is purely for looks.
Can I go back to the random address?
Yes. Clear the custom address while editing, save, and the random one takes over again.
