Office mode for team gifts

Office mode adds two settings built for farewells and team collections.

What office mode is

Pick Office & team as the occasion — that covers work anniversaries, retirements, farewells and the rest — and you get a settings block of your own:

• Guests can participate until — set the moment reserving and contributing stops
• Hide contribution amounts — take the individual amounts out of your own contribution list

Both exist for office situations, where a little discretion goes a long way.

Setting a deadline

The deadline decides how long colleagues can reserve and contribute.

How to set it

1. Pick Office & team as the occasion while creating the list
2. Find Guests can participate until in the office settings
3. Choose a date and a time
4. Save

What happens afterwards

• The list stays visible
• Reserving and contributing stop
• A note at the top says the deadline has passed

You can change or clear the deadline whenever you like. The field sits in the settings of your list — empty it, save, and the list is open again.

Set the deadline a few days before the last working day, so you still have time to go and buy the gift.

Hiding contribution amounts

First things first: colleagues never see who gave how much. Names and individual amounts live in your contribution list, and that list is yours and your co-owner’s alone. Guests only ever see progress.

So this setting works where you are looking: it takes the individual amounts out of your contribution list.

How to set it

1. Turn on Hide contribution amounts in the office settings

What colleagues see is a different setting

What guests learn about the money is governed by Show progress to guests as. It can show the amounts, or only the number of contributions, or nothing at all. If you want to keep something from your colleagues, that is the switch you want — not this one.

A farewell, start to finish

1. Create the list with the farewell occasion
2. Set a deadline, say a week before the last day
3. Hide the amounts if you want to
4. Add a group fund for the shared gift
5. Share the link in the team channel — on Slack or Teams, copy it and paste it in
6. After the deadline, collect the money from your colleagues by PayPal or bank transfer
7. Buy the gift and hand it over

Common questions

Can I use office mode for other occasions?

Not really, and the deadline is the reason. The whole block belongs to the Office & team occasion, which covers work anniversaries, retirements and farewells. On any other occasion the deadline field only appears once a deadline already exists — that is there so you can clear a deadline, not set one. So if you want either of these two settings, pick Office & team when you create the list.

Is the deadline binding?

Yes. After the moment you chose, nobody can reserve or contribute any more, though the list stays visible. Want it open again? Clear the deadline in the settings.

Can I switch to hidden amounts later on?

Yes, change it whenever you like. It only touches your own contribution list — your colleagues never saw the individual amounts anyway.

Does Wishlist.de collect the money?

No. Wishlist.de coordinates who wants to give how much. Collecting it is on you, by PayPal, bank transfer or cash.
